LAFC and DC United have already kicked-off Gameweek 23 of MLS Fantasy Soccer 2022. However there are still another 19 fixtures to be played in this round. Check the MLS Disciplinary Table as there are a number of fantasy regulars who are one yellow card away from suspension.
Goalkeeper
Essential: None
Recommended: Sean Johnson (NYCFC)
If you haven’t already banked Maxime Crepeau’s clean sheet points from last night then Johnson is your guy. He starts the DGW at home to Charlotte FC, who blanked in their last two away games when losing heavily at Toronto and LAFC.
Possible: Djordje Petrovic (New England Revolution) Andre Blake (Philadelphia Union) Maarten Paes (FC Dallas) Zac MacMath (Real Salt Lake)
Defenders
Essential: None
Recommended: Thiago Martins (NYCFC) Richie Laryea (Toronto FC)
With Alexander Callens reportedly out Martins is the next best NYCFC option.
Laryea has returned to MLS with three assists in two appearances. At just $6.8m he looks like decent value this week.
Possible: Aaron Long (New York Red Bulls) Kai Wagner (Philadelphia Union) Andrew Brody (Real Salt Lake)
Midfield
Essential: None
Recommended: Carles Gil (New England Revolution) Daniel Gazdag (Philadelphia Union)
Gil continues to be the model of consistency, averaging more than 8 points per game over the season. He also has scores of 10 and 12 from his last two games.
Gazdag is more goal and assist dependent but has five goals and two assists from seven games. He should add to his tally at FC Dallas or DC United.
Possible: Thiago Almada (Atlanta United) Lewis Morgan (New York Red Bulls) Jonathan Osorio (Toronto FC) Maxi Moralez (NYCFC) Santi Rodriguez (NYCFC) Alan Velasco (FC Dallas) Ryan Gauld (Vancouver Whitecaps) Lucas Zelarayan (Columbus Crew) Hany Mukhtar (Nashville SC)
Forwards
Essential: None
Recommended: Lorenzo Insigne (Toronto FC)
With goals in his last two games, and 21 fantasy points, Insigne is off the mark. He looks a strong choice for inclusion this week.
Possible: Federico Bernardeschi (Toronto FC) Jesus Ferreira (FC Dallas) Diego Rubio (Colorado Rapids) Cucho Hernandez (Columbus Crew)
Captain
1. Insigne
2. Gil
3. Palacios (too late)
