MLS Fantasy Soccer 2022 GW21

It’s Gameweek 21 of MLS Fantasy Soccer 2022 – and it’s another double week. Twelve teams play twice, sixteen team play once.

Goalkeeper

Essential: None

Recommended: None

Possible: Carlos Coronel (New York Red Bulls) Stefan Frei (Seattle Sounders) Kristijan Kahlina (Charlotte FC) Eloy Room (Columbus Crew) Joe Willis (Nashville SC) Brad Stuver (Austin FC)

It doesn’t look like a great week for keepers – the biggest positive being that most of the DGW keepers are reasonably priced.

Defenders

Essential: None

Recommended: Jonathan Mensah (Columbus Crew) Abubakar Martinez (FC Dallas)

The Crew have managed clean sheets in each of their last three homes games and in four of their last seven matches in total. They have two opponents who are capable of scoring on the road (CF Montreal and NYCFC) so Mensah’s decent floor may be needed.

Despite only one clean sheet in his last five appearances, Abubukar has 35 points in five games, including two goals in that time.

Possible: John Tolkin (NYRB) Yeimar Gomez Andrade (Seattle Sounders) Jose Martinez (FC Dallas) Claudio Bravo (Portland Timbers) Walker Zimmerman (Nashville SC) Andrew Brody (Real Salt Lake)

Midfield

Essential: Lucas Zelarayan (Columbus Crew) Hany Mukhtar (Nashville SC)

Zela should be raring to go after he and his team-mates didn’t have the chance to complete their game at Charlotte. He has 47 fantasy points from just 4.5 games.

Another week, another big score from Mukhtar. For only the second time in ten games he failed to score yet still came away with 12 points from the contest with Vancouver.

Recommended: None

Possible: Lewis Morgan (NYRB) Nicolas Lodeiro (Seattle Sounders) Djordje Mihailovic (CF Montreal) Sebastian Blanco (Portland Timbers) Alejandro Pozuelo (Inter Miami) Sebastian Driussi (Austin FC)

Forwards

Essential: None

Recommended: Cucho Hernandez (Columbus Crew) Taxiarchis Fountas (DC United)

With four goals in three games, Cucho has made an instant impact at Columbus. He has two decent chances to build on his promising early start.

Taxi left it late to strike against Orlando at the weekend but now has six goals in six games.
