MLS Fantasy Soccer 2021 GW27

It’s here – the final week of the 2021 MLS Fantasy Soccer season. Good luck to anyone still in the hunt for a mini league win or a high rank overall or for Champions League. Gameweek 27 sees nine teams playing twice, the rest once.

It’s a quick turnaround so be careful with players who are one yellow card from suspension.

Before we get into it, thanks to everyone who took the trouble to read these previews over the season. Hopefully, they were useful, particularly to new players.

Goalkeeper

Strongly Consider

When it comes to keeperoo options, the schedulers have been kinder than in recent weeks. Brad Guzan (Atlanta United), Carlos Coronel (New York Red Bulls) and whoever starts for CF Montreal will have two games done and dusted before some of the single gameweek options come into play.

Think About

From those keepers only playing one game, Joe Willis (Nashville SC), Matt Turner (New England Revolution) and William Yarbrough (Colorado Rapids) all possess clean-sheet potential.

Defenders

Strongly Consider

Andreu Fontas (Sporting Kansas City) has had an excellent season with an average of 6.23. He finishes with games at Austin FC and against Real Salt Lake.

New York Red Bulls have four clean sheets in their past six games and are still fighting for a play-off spot. They face Atlanta United in a huge game before rounding off the season at Nashville SC. Andrew Gutman and Sean Nealis are the obvious choices.

Think About

Mamadou Fall (LAFC), Aaron Herrera (Real Salt Lake), Walker Zimmerman (Nashville SC) and coverage from CF Montreal or Colorado Rapids are also worth a look.

Midfield

Strongly Consider

Albert Rusnak (Real Salt Lake) has 25 points from his last two games and his team face season defining games against Portland Timbers and at Sporting Kansas City.

Minnesota United also have a huge game, against fellow play-off hopefuls LA Galaxy. Emanuel Reynoso has 33 points from his last four fixtures while Franco Fragapane has 29 points from the same period.

Think About

Luis Araujo, Ezequiel Barco and Marcelino Moreno (all Atlanta United) have been reliable sources of fantasy points all season and have two games to clinch a play-off spot.

Other good options for the final week include Djordje Mihailovic (CF Montreal), Lucas Zelarayan (Columbus Crew), Ryan Gauld (Vancouver Whitecaps) and Hany Mukhtar or Randall Leal (both Nashville SC).

Beware

If Carles Gil starts for New England Revolution then he’s obviously a good choice – but the Revs (with the Supporters Shield won) may have one eye on the play-offs.

Forwards

Must Have

Cristian Arango (LAFC) has seven goals and two assists in his last four games and has two huge games to end the regular season. He needs to be in.

Strongly Consider

With eleven goals in eleven games Johnny Russell (Sporting Kansas City) is also close to be essential.

Think About

Other striking options this week include Brian White (Vancouver Whitecaps), Miguel Berry (Columbus Crew), Valentin Castellanos (NYCFC), Chicharito (LA Galaxy) and Cade Cowell (San Jose Earthquakes).
