With the game live and the season only a week away, planning for MLS Fantasy Soccer 2022 is well underway. Clubs have made a host of new signings including big names such as Xherdan Shaqiri, Douglas Costa and, of course, Lorenzo Insigne. Here are some other new additions to the league who will hopefully be worth considering this year.

Facundo Torres (Orlando City)
In one of the off-season’s most drawn out transfers, the Lions finally got their man. Signed as a Young Designated Player, the winger produced 16 goals and 15 assists in 71 games for Penarol. He is also a Uruguayan international and is considered one of the most promising young players in South America.
Ercan Kara (Orlando City)
It’s been a busy time for Orlando as they moved to replace the departing Chris Mueller, Daryl Dike and Nani. Kara is a 6ft 3, Austrian international striker. Since the start of the 2020/21 season he has made 49 league appearances, scoring 24 times and producing 8 assists.
Mikhail Uhre (Philadelphia Union)
Uhre looks like a replacement for Kacper Przybylko and if he reproduces the goalscoring form he showed in Denmark (at Brondby) he will be a welcome fantasy addition. In this season’s Superliga Uhre has managed 11 goals and an assist from 16 appearances.
Alan Velasco (FC Dallas)
The 5ft 6 Argentine winger is only 19 years old but is his new club’s record signing. He likes to dribble and along with Jesus Ferreira and Paul Arriola, forms an attacking unit with fantasy potential.
Cristian Ortiz (Charlotte FC)
Ortiz is an attacking midfielder who has played for a number of clubs in South and Central America. While his recent spell at Tijuana wasn’t hugely productive, he enjoyed more success at Independiente del Valle (Ecuador), playing for current Charlotte coach Miguel Angel Ramirez.
Sebastian Ferreira (Houston Dynamo)
The 22-year-old Paraguayan striker has the potential to be a regular scorer for the Dynamo. He has an impressive record at his previous clubs including 27 goals and 7 assists in the league over the past two years on loan at Libertad.
Thiago Almada (Atlanta United)
Another young South American star moves to MLS. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder came through the ranks at Velez Sarsfield where, in 58 league games, he scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists.
