The third last week of the season, the second round of Champions League, the start of play-offs for head-to-head leagues and a monster round of fixtures with 23 teams playing twice and only four (Atlanta United, New York Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake and Sporting Kansas City) playing once.
It’s Gameweek 25 of MLS Fantasy Soccer 2021.
Goalkeeper
Strongly Consider
Once again, the schedule isn’t kind to keeperoo hunters. For anyone looking for three chances at the clean sheet points, Stefan Frei (Seattle Sounders) and Eloy Room (Columbus Crew) will have two matches completed before David Ochoa (Real Salt Lake) plays his single fixture.
Think About
For shut out possibilities this week also look at Brad Guzan (Atlanta United), Tyler Miller (Minnesota United), Joe Willis (Nashville SC) and William Yarbrough (Colorado Rapids).
Defenders
Strongly Consider
With four clean sheets in their last six contents and two home games this week Minnesota United coverage looks like one of the better options this week. Bakaye Dibassy managed 9 points at Austin FC last week.
Auston Trusty (Colorado Rapids) has bonus point potential and managed clean sheets in his last two home matches.
Think About
It doesn’t look like a great week for clean sheets chances. Other defenders to think about include Alan Franco (Atlanta United), Walker Zimmerman (Nashville SC), Jimmy Medranda (Seattle Sounders), and Nathan (San Jose Earthquakes).
Midfield
Strongly Consider
Houston Dynamo’s Fafa Picault (Houston Dynamo) has five goals and an assist from seven games. He could be a handy differential for anyone looking hoping to make up ground.
Franco Fragapane (Minnesota United) has 49 fantasy points from his last six games while his team-mate, Emanuel Reynoso has ‘only’ managed 42.
Having two road games isn’t a reason to avoid Ryan Gauld. The Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder has played 45 minutes or more three times away from home and has scores of 7, 5 and 8.
Think About
Look at Carles Gil (New England Revolution), Marcelino Moreno (Atlanta United), Nani (Orlando City), Michael Barrios (Colorado Rapids), Kelyn Rowe (Seattle Sounders), Sebastian Blanco (Portland Timbers) and Chofis (San Jose Earthquakes).
Forwards
Strongly Consider
Two goals in three games suggests that Chicharito (LA Galaxy) is on his way back to his pre-injury form. Games at Houston Dynamo and at home to FC Dallas should see at least one goal if he is involved for 150 minutes or more.
Felipe Mora has had a solid season for Portland Timbers (11 goals) and is worth some thought this week.
Think About
Other striking options include Ola Kamara (DC United), Gustavo Bou (New England Revolution), Daryl Dike (Orlando City), Cristian Arango (LAFC) and some coverage from FC Dallas or Seattle Sounders.
