MLS Fantasy Soccer 2022 GW6

Twelve fixtures make up Gameweek 6 of MLS Fantasy Soccer 2022. DC United, FC Cincinnati, NYCFC and Seattle Sounders are all on a bye week, everyone else plays once.

It’s also the end of the first qualifying phase for the Champions League – good luck to anyone still in the hunt for a place.

Goalkeeper

Essential: None

Recommended: Zac MacMath (Real Salt Lake) Steve Clark (Houston Dynamo)

Despite no clean sheets in his last three games, MacMath has scored five points in each of those matches thanks to points for saves and recoveries.

Houston are unbeaten at home and Clark faces the Quakes who have yet to score on the road and are 27th in MLS this year for shots at goal.

Possible: Brad Knighton (New England Revolution) Maarten Paes (FC Dallas) Tim Melia (Sporting Kansas City) Brad Stuver (Austin FC)

Defenders

Essential: None

Recommended: Kai Wagner (Philadelphia Union) Teenage Hadebe (Houston Dynamo) Nicolas Isimat-Marin (Sporting Kansas City)

Wagner faces a tough match at home to Columbus Crew but with his clean sheet potential, his attacking capabilities, and an average score of 8.80 for the season, he is hard to ignore.

He’s only played 90 minutes twice this season, but Hadebe has returned 6 points from each game, despite no clean sheets. He looks to have a decent floor and plays against San Jose

Isimat-Marin looks to have edged ahead of Andreu Fontas when it comes to bonus point production amongst SKC defenders and is up against Nashville who are still amongst the lowest in the league for shots at goal.

Possible: Rodrigo Schlegel (Orlando City) Andrew Brody (Real Salt Lake) Brooks Lennon (Atlanta United) Julio Cascante (Austin FC)

Midfield

Essential: None

Recommended: Carles Gil (New England Revolution) Pablo Ruiz (Real Salt Lake) Sebastian Driussi (Austin FC)

Gil’s 4 points against the Red Bulls was the first time this season he had failed to score double figures when playing 90 minutes. Playing against Inter Miami should see Gil return a higher score than last week.

One of the early season’s most solid performers, Ruiz hasn’t gone below 5 points and has managed scores of 9 and 7 in his two previous home games.

Driussi has 42 fantasy points thanks to four goals and two assists although his bonus point returns aren’t great.

Possible: Lewis Morgan (New York Red Bulls) Alan Velasco (FC Dallas) Ben Bender (Charlotte FC) Thiago Almada (Atlanta United) Marcelino Moreno (Atlanta United)

Forwards

Essential: None

Recommended: Chicharito (LA Galaxy) Carlos Vela (LAFC) Darwin Quintero (Houston Dynamo) Fafa Picault (Houston Dynamo)

With the possibility of another El Trafico goalfest, going with Chicha (four goals this season) and Vela (four goals and two assists) may not be a bad idea.

The Houston pair provide cheaper alternatives, and both have managed a double figure score this season.

Possible: Alexandre Pato (Orlando City) Tom Barlow (New York Red Bulls) Raheem Edwards (LA Galaxy) Karol Swiderski (Charlotte FC)

Captain

  1. Gil
  2. Chicharito
  3. Vela
