MLS Fantasy Soccer 2021 GW22

Gameweek 22 of the MLS Fantasy Soccer season has five teams – Chicago Fire, Nashville SC, New England Revolution, New York City FC and New York Red Bulls – with two fixtures, while the rest play once.

Goalkeeper

Strongly Consider

New England Revolution are on a double and both fixtures are completed early in the round so put Matt Turner on your bench. If he doesn’t hit during either game, then you have a third attempt at the clean sheet with another keeper.

Joe Willis (Nashville SC) has two road games but managed two clean sheets in his last three away games.

Tim Melia (Sporting Kansas City) has managed shut outs in each of his last two home games and can be paired with Turner or Willis in a keeperoo.

Think About

Other options this week include Nick Marsman (Inter Miami), Andre Blake (Philadelphia Union), Bill Hamid (DC United) and William Yarbrough (Colorado Rapids).

Defenders

Strongly Consider

Both New England Revolution full-backs, Brandon Bye and DeJuan Jones, have 18 points from their last three games despite only returning one clean sheet in that time. And both, if selected, will have two matches this week.

Kai Wagner (Philadelphia Union) has an average of 6.50 and scored at the weekend against Orlando City.

At $10.8m Andreu Fontas (Sporting Kansas City) isn’t cheap but he has reached double figures four times in his past eight games.

Think About

Christian Makoun (Inter Miami), Andy Najar (DC United), Keegan Rosenberry (Colorado Rapids) and Minnesota United coverage are also possible options this week.

Avoid

Orlando City defenders wouldn’t have been high on many lists for a trip to New England but Antonio Carlos being suspended makes them even less appealing.

Midfield

Must Have

In his first 90 minutes since returning from injury, Carles Gil (New England Revolution) hit 10 points against Columbus Crew.

Strongly Consider

Emanuel Reynoso (Minnesota United) also made his comeback with two goals and 15 points in a productive 70 minutes against LA Galaxy. This week Reynoso is at home to Houston Dynamo.

With 21 points from two games, Jack Price (Colorado Rapids) is one of the unsung heroes of MLS Fantasy. Despite no goals this season, he has 9 assists and an average of more than 6 points per game.

He has a tough game at Philadelphia Union, but it’s hard to ignore Ezquiel Barco. The Atlanta United midfielder has scored 10 points or more in five of his last eight matches.

Think About

Consider Hany Mukhtar (Nashville SC), Maxi Moralez (NYCFC), Lucas Zelarayan (Columbus Crew), Chofis (San Jose Earthquakes), Ryan Gauld (Vancouver Whitecaps) and Sebastian Blanco (Portland Timbers).

Forwards

Gustavo Bou and Adam Buksa (both New England Revolution) are both strong DGW options though it’s unlikely both will play 180 minutes.

After a couple of poor performances, Sebastian Druissi (Auston FC) bounced back with a goal and an assist against San Jose Earthquakes. However, it was noticeable that there was no bonus point production this time.

Think About

Kacper Przybylko (Philadelphia Union), Ola Kamara (DC United), Valentin Castellanos (NYCFC), Felipe Mora (Portland Timbers), Daniel Salloi (Sporting Kansas City) and Chicharito (LA Galaxy) are all viable striking options.
